Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

This visit, I noticed service has improved significantly. No lettuce was forgotten, and no soggy tacos. I remembered not to order soft tacos or vegetarian. I ordered a ground beef taco basket, with hard shells. I selected the mild salsa, sour cream, lettuce, cheese. It was presented in red basket, lined with a paper towel. The taco was kind of semi full, and it was mostly lettuce and cheese. Which is not a bad thing, but the meat filling could be improved. The salsa was fresh salsa with tomato chunks and a mild flavor. The restaurant was full, but there's only 5 tables, and one family took up 2 of the tables. The tables were slow being cleaned, but it was lunch time, and the employees were soon on top of it. I thought this was improved from the first time I ate, more than a year ago.

Just terrible. Trying to be like chipotle but awful food and more expensive than chipotle!

Never been to a place that is as hit-or-miss, both on food quality and service. Make no mistake, it isn't Chipotle or Qdoba. It's low budget-as shown by the styrofoam paper plates and obviously store bought tortilla chips-and the limit of three toppings I can get on a burrito or nachos is a joke. If you want cheese, lettuce, and salsa, you'll have to pay extra for the tomato and sour cream? Prices are higher than Chipotle, too. But the southwest chicken salad I had on my most recent visit was actually pretty bomb. So like I said, it's totally hit or miss.

My boyfriend and I were at Crown Center and wanted to grab lunch before we went to Sea Life. Somehow we decided on this place. The descriptions of the food were good, and we decided what we wanted quickly. However, I thought the staff came across as aloof and unfriendly. My boyfriend was not happy with his steak burrito. The rice in both of our burritos was hard and uncooked. Neither one of us finished our meal. A waste of our time. Find somewhere else to eat.

Rudest employees u have ever come across. Very unprofessional. They don't even deserve the one star but it wouldn't let me complete without one

This place is just like Chipotle, only the food isnt any good. I was amazed how they managed to stuff so much into a torrilla and still make it taste bland. Worst of all, the burrito cost 10$.

Fresh and tasty Tex-Mex in Crown Center. Everything here is made in-house, every day, right down to the salsas and homemade quac. I work a few blocks away, and sometimes come back on a break since to refill my soda (free refills all day! The only thing I don't personally care for are the round tortilla chips; I've always thought those were weird.

First let me be charitable. I am Mexican and I am from California. I wouldn't really expect to find awesome Mexican food in a mall in Kansas City. Think of this review as a series of suggestions rather than a condemnation. First. Corn Tortillas! Even soft tacos should be on corn tortillas. Second. Stop with the cheddar cheese. If you cannot find a Mexican Blend (usually jack and cheddar) go for real Mexican cheese such a cotija or queso fresco. Third. I tried the hot salsa. It was bland. Aim for three key salsas. You need a really fresh mild salsa that is chunky. You then want a roasted salsa that is not. You finish with a green tomatillo salsa for chicken dishes. Fourth. Drop the "spicy chicken" I don't know where you got this recipe, but it is a fail. Fifth. For God's sake, get some limes. You cannot serve or prepare Mexican food without limes. The steak isn't bad but needs more flavor. Sixth: I know this is the midwest and that means ground beef tacos, but the flavor is just not there. Find a spicier seasoning. The concept of this restaurant is not bad, but it does make too many compromises toward American tastes. Go for something closer to real Mexican food and I think people will come.

This was supposed to be a quick meal while on the go at Crown Center, so our expectations were not set high. We can make decent mexican food at home, so I am not sure how they screwed this up so bad. My son wouldn't finish his $8 two taco dinner, because the rice a beans were somehow more bland than straight out of the can. Our friend's burrito rice was still crunchy. There is a confusing menu, which lists ingredients, but they ask you cafeteria-style what you want anyway. Odd limits of ingredients with lots of options to upgrade made it difficult to calculate what I thought the ticket should be, and I think I would have felt ripped off no matter my math.

Is there a way to give negative stars? This is the worst Mexican food ever. They don't even warm their hard tacos and the beef isn't seasoned at all. No chili, pepper, paprika, nothing at all. What the heck is wrong with KC? Everything here is bland except for the BBQ

Food was excellent. Service was excellent. My four-year old and I left full and happy! The man that rang us up was very helpful and even made some good suggestions for things to do in and around Crown Center with my kid. The filling choices for my burrito were great. The habanero chicken was delicious. Give it a try!

Quick service, good nacho, but not the best my husband has ever had. Would recommend for a quick meal.
